The Warlu Way follows the path of the Warlu, or Dreamtime sea serpent, as it traverses WAs Pilbara. There are four self-drive routes to provide contrasting experiences and road surfaces to allow a one-way traverse or return circuit.
The sealed coastal route explores one of the world’s most amazing coastlines, taking in natural wonders like the Mackerel Islands. The inland route takes you through the impressive red rock gorges and the rugged and beautiful Karijini.
The East Pilbara Geoheritage Trail is the more adventurous unsealed option for travelling between Karijini and Port Hedland. The Red Dog (Manuwarra) Highway links the experiences the coastal Warlu Way highlights before following the footsteps of Red Dog inland to Karijini with some unsealed segments.
The Warlu Way App highlights and promotes the spectacular tourist attractions of WAs Pilbara region as a drive destination. As a traveller enters the Pilbara at Nanutarra, Newman or Pardoo Roadhouse, the Warlu Way will lead you from sapphire seas to the lush oases, soaring gorges, rugged ranges and ancient Aboriginal art of North-West Australia’s Pilbara region.
Interpretive signage along the drive and the information and directions delivered by the app opens your eyes to the secrets of this country and its historical, cultural and natural wonders. Warlu Way will assist you in planning and navigating your journey, locating services, tours and attractions, learning more about the country and travelling safely through the region. Please provide us with any feedback as to the capabilities or any issues identified with the app so we can continue to improve it in the future. Happy Travelling.
